In the midst of writing my coursework which has to be handed in tomorrow ;/ #whatislife Although i don't feel i can really complain considering that English is my favourite subject.
My only words of encouragement (for this or any essay really) would be:
1) CALM DOWN!! I was getting myself really quite stressed and seriously, it does not do you any good - zero, zilch
2) Try talking through ideas and points with someone. I learn a lot by talking about things and often find that I find new points/angles this way.
3) Take breaks (obvs not in an exam) because when you hit a wall it's good to just have a pause, go play the piano, read a book, go on YouTube or whatever you do - it takes you away from your 'work' environment and when you come back your mind will be clearer.
4) Sustenance. Very Important Point. Having something to eat and drink always helps in my opinion. This is not an excuse to stuff your face but having a little something to keep you going is good
5) Plan. I am not always very good at this as I tend to just launch straight into it and then formulate a plan half way through (which does not always work). If you do this and you're cool with it then fine. But it is advisable to jot down some words or ideas to start with. When writing under timed conditions, i wouldn't embark on a massive, in depth plan as it will take up too much of your time and i haven't heard of any exam board that would give you enough marks for a plan for it to be worth it.
6) Don't worry if you make a mistake. It might sound a bit clichéd but you do actually learn from your mistakes and its not a crime to have spelt something wrong or to have mis-read the question. The chances of you doing it again will have plummeted. If you are not able to do drafts then, again don't worry. I appreciate that in this case, the stress and nerves will be high but you have try (easier said then done, I know) and relax.
If any of you have any queries or want help with anything English related then feel free to let me know :)
xx
